I am Professional Musician based in the UK although I have performed all over the World. I love to play varied types of music and quite often play Electronic Keyboards as well as the obligatory Piano.
I have seen if anything an increased demand for Piano Lessons over the past few years in my dealings with local Schools and Colleges but also noticed that the gap between what a good qualified Teacher needs to charge and what most people can afford is increasing year on year.
Internet technology has moved on and now it really is quite feasible to learn a good amount about playing the piano via an online course for a fraction of the cost of individual private lessons.
I will stress here that by taking an online piano course Nobody is going to become a Concert Pianist so please don’t think it’s that simple, you will be destined for disappointment.
The best online courses though are capable of taking somebody from scratch to a reasonable level which I consider to be about Grade V of The Associated Board Of The Royal Schools Of Music which are the definitive graded qualifications in the UK and Worldwide.
I decided earlier this year that it was time to give something back and that nobody should be denied the chance of playing the piano because of financial considerations so knowing that a non-musician is hardly best placed to be able to choose the best Piano Course online I would try to help by pointing as many people in the direction of the best Courses available.
I have also spotted a way I could improve the chances of people taking these online courses being successful.
The absolute BEST way of guaranteeing good progress is making sure the Student can read Music perfectly right from the off!
You can’t believe how many times I have taken over a new pupil who’s been studying Piano for several years and I ask them what a certain note is and there’s a delay whilst they work it out before they answer!! This makes me SO MAD!
How are you supposed to read and play a piece at the same time if you don’t know what a note is INSTANTLY?
How can you play a new piece in the right “time” if you don’t know how to work out a rhythm properly?
So I have created a FREE “How To Read Music” Course. This course starts at the very beginning and consists of a weekly video and a special testing tool so the pupil can practise the lesson over the course of the week and be ready for the next lesson. The course will cover:
| Recognising Notes INSTANTLY! – No delays or thinking about it. (My tool is GREAT for this!) | |
| Playing to the Beat (The biggest fault of all learners!) – Why accept disjointed unrhythmic playing? | |
| Recognising more complicated rhythms by the virtue of simple counting – I can’t believe how many people can’t seem to do this. | |
| Scanning both staves (hands) at the same time. A vital skill for anyone who wants any success on the Piano. | |
| Further training on all the above. The course is growing all the time as I add new videos. At the end of this NOBODY will have any excuse of not being able to read music properly |
The price of this course is very reasonable – It’s Free. The course in itself will NOT teach you how to play the piano. You will need to buy a bona-fide piano course for that. (I point you in the right direction in this website.)
